Rasputin was born as a son of farmers in the small village called Pokrovskoe, on the Tura River, Siberia. He is known to have two brothers: one sister named Mary and her older brother, Dmitri. Her sister, Maria suffered from epilepsy and drowning in the river due to recurrence of the disease. His brother Dmitri had fallen into a pond along with Rasputin, although both survived but then Dmitri died of pneumonia. The death of his two brothers incised bitter memories for Rasputin, until he named his two children Maria and Dmitri. The myth states that Rasputin had memliliki extraordinary powers since childhood. Suspicions that Rasputin was a member Khlysts, though it is still debated by historians, attached to the end of his life.
